White jade chop topped by an animal which could be a dog. The quality of the carving points at the late Qing period (1644 - 1912). The inscription is of mediocre quality and reads 山林 (shan lin) which is presumably a name. The chop was added to the Lowlands-collection in 2013. Height 3.4 cm. Width 2.1 cm. Depth 0.87 cm. Weight 10.2 grams. The chop originally belonged to Rudolph Voll (1911-2009) who acquired it in the 1970’s in Hong Kong. For further information about Rudolph Voll see Quick Find 4167.
