Qilin dating from the middle of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1912). The carving and the jade are of good quality. On its back is some skin (the rind of the pebble) remaining which gives it a special appeal. The qilin offers protection, wisdom and goodwill to its owner. In its mouth, it holds a branch of lingzhi which symbolizes immortality and longevity. Legends also say that it brings many sons who will become successful scholars. This qilin came from Hong Kong in 1987. Length 4.3 cm. Width 3.1 cm. Height 1.9 cm. Weight 42.6 grams.
