Carving of an ox holding a fly whisk. It dates from the Qianlong period (1735 - 1796) and originally formed part of a set of twelve animals belonging to the Chinese zodiac. A very light green celadon colored jade was used for its manufacture. The ox was, just like the dog (item 7196), found at a Christie’s auction in London and entered the collection in 1972. Height 4.6 cm. Width 3.5 cm. Depth 2.3 cm. Weight 52.8 grams.
