Flower which has clearly been in a fire. In the old days houses in China were made of wood and fires occurred frequently. In the collection are several examples of flowers which were burned. The colour of jade changes at high temperatures to a greyish, sometimes black tint. Rare is the so-called ‘baby blush’ which can be seen on one of the flower discs in the collection.
