One of the most beautiful and most intricate flower disc in the collection. The carving is really stunning and the quality of the jade is flawless. According to the previous owner, the disc most probably originates from the Qing period and we tend to agree with him. Even though the jade carvers of the Ming dynasty would certainly have been able to create such a disc, the shape is too rounded and points at a later date.
This kind of design is not depicted in professor Cheng Te-k’un’s book ‘Jade Flowers and Floral Patterns in Chinese Decorative Art ‘.
