Again what seems to be a transition between a flower and a butterfly (or bee). It shows an interesting feature. Apparently the carver made a mistake as the back shows a deep groove which was made with a very thin steel wire-saw. The flower is interesting as the (rather deep) groove shows the thinness of the wire-saws which were used for sawing. This type of flower is not depicted in professor Cheng Te-k’un’s book ‘Jade Flowers and Floral Patterns in Chinese Decorative Art ‘.
