The corona of this large translucent ‘sunburst’ xiu yu jade flower is carved in the shape of a coin symbolizing a wish for riches. Compared to a very similar flower (see Quick Find 7950) in the Lowlands-collection, the workmanship on this particular one is rather rough. A similar type of flower in jade (nr 141) is depicted in professor Cheng Te-k’un’s book ‘Jade Flowers and Floral Patterns in Chinese Decorative Art’。
