We acquired these four small jadeite flowers in one lot. The colors are vibrant and the carving quite fine despite their diminutive size. The Chinese call jadeite ‘Fei tsui’ which means ‘Kingfisher’, a bird which has vibrantly colored feathers. These small carvings once graced hairpins which moved when the owner was walking. Because the owners felt that only the ‘fei tsui’ had any value, the hairpins were thrown away but the small flowers were kept. A nice example of such is a hairpin can be found under Quick Find 5563.
