One of the most interesting hairpins in the collection is this one. The gilt silver filigree leaves and corona of this flower are mounted with red stones creating a pleasant contrast with the light celadon colored jade. We believe that it is safe to attribute a very early date to this hairpin and we place it in the late Ming (1368 - 1644) to early Qing (1644 - 1912) period. A similar type of flower (nr 76) is depicted in professor Cheng Te-k’un’s book ‘Jade Flowers and Floral Patterns in Chinese Decorative Art’。
