Well-carved celadon colored openwork jade flower mounted in a 18K gold setting embellished with eleven tiny diamonds and three cabochon rubies. Just like in the old days, it has become a fashion in China to re-use antique jade flowers in modern jewelry. The flower dates from the Ming period (1268 - 1644) whereas the setting was made by a goldsmith in Shanghai in 2013. It entered the Lowlands-collection in 2016. A similar type of flower (nr 337) is depicted in professor Cheng Te-k’un’s book ‘Jade Flowers and Floral Patterns in Chinese Decorative Art’.
