Belt hook with crouching qilin - (6976)
[6976]

Another belt hook of superior quality. With its length of almost 14 centimeters it is of an impressive size and the largest belt hook in the collection. The carving is exquisite and fluid. The material is of a nice light celadon color. The stud shows an interesting carving of a creature which resembles a phoenix. We feel that this belt hook dates from the 18th century but an earlier date should not be ruled out. It was acquired in Taipei in 1985. Length 13.5 cm. Width 3.0 cm. Depth 2.7 cm. Weight 140.8 grams.
