The horn of this feline indicates that it is a Qilin, which is a mythical creature that has the same role as the stork in the West. The chop is made from a white jade pebble with a brown skin. The carver noticed the wonderful warm tone of the skin and used it to its full advantage. Only on the uncarved bottom and one side the white colour shines through. The result is a pleasing small seal which, though modern, has all the characteristics appreciated by jade aficionados. It entered the Lowlands-collection in 2014. Height 3.1 cm. Width 2.2 cm. Depth 1.1 cm.
