The carver of this small object cleverly used the two colors in the jade to carve a crab with a coin between its claws. Crabs are productive creatures so they symbolize a wish to have many sons. The coin refers to a wish for wealth. On the bottom of the object are two lingzhi fungus which symbolize the wish for a long life. This modern carving was acquired in Shanghai in 2012. Length 5.2 cm. Width 3.1 cm. Height 2.2 cm. Weight 43.5 grams.
