Jadeite feather holder – (6590)
[6590]

Nicely colored Burmese jadeite (Fei tsui) was already an expensive material in the old days. That's perhaps why this feather holder is much smaller than the usual hat ornaments made of Hetian jade. The feather holder with peacock feathers was attached to the finial of a mandarin hat of certain rank. The color of this one is very vivid. It dates from the late Qing (1644 - 1912) to the early Republic period (1912 - 1949) and was acquired in Shanghai in 1992. Length 5.5 cm. Diameter 1.1 cm. Weight 13.5 grams.
