Rectangular chop with a beautiful skin on one side. It is topped by a mythical creature called 'qilin'. The inscription reads 'A wise man loves the river' and the chop belonged without little doubt to a scholar. It dates from the middle of the Qing period (1644 - 1912) and was acquired in London in 1977. Height 3.2 cm. Width 2.1 cm. Depth 1.4 cm. Weight 21.2 grams.
