Hairpin decorated with a dragon boat. We found it in a small antiques shop in the Netherlands in 1980. The fine carving shows rowers and a helmsman on a dragon boat. It dates from the first half of the 19th century. An ear scoop is still present at the top. When we acquired it, there was an old label attached which read in Chinese: Approximately 150 years old; White jade openwork dragon boat pin; 25 net taels. We assume that 25 taels (old Chinese weight unit) of silver were meant. The label has gone missing. Length 19.7 cm. Width 2.6 cm. Thick 0.46 cm.
