Small boulder which was added to the Lowlands-collection from Shanghai in 2008. The material is a very nice dark green Burmese jadeite (Fei tsui) with some thin brown veins. Two 'windows' have been cut into the stone to reveal the material inside. This kind of boulder is called a ‘gambling stone’ because the buyer gambles that the inside material is of gem quality, which is something that may sometimes be detected by grinding away and polishing small spots of the rough outside texture. But only cutting the stone in half usually reveals its true color. Length 9 cm. Width 6.2 cm. Depth 3.8 cm. Weight 356 grams.
