Miniature gilt bronze statue of the Bodhisattva ‘Manjushri’. He is depicted wielding a flaming sword, representing the realization of transcendent wisdom which cuts down ignorance. Manjushri is one of the Four Great Bodhisattvas of Chinese Buddhism. This small statue dates from the 18th century of the Qing period (1644 – 1912). Height 4.0 cm. Width 2.8 cm. Depth 1.9 cm.
