Miniature gilt bronze statue of ‘Shakyamuni’, also known as Gautama Buddha, or simply the Buddha. Siddhãrta Gautama was a sage on whose teachings Bhuddism was founded. He is regarded as the Supreme Buddha and started teaching in India between the sixth and fourth centuries BC. This small statue which shows him holding an alms bowl. It dates from the 18th century of the Qing period (1644 – 1912). Height 3.8 cm. Width 2.7 cm. Depth 1.8 cm.
