Bronze belt hook inlaid with silver whirls, stipples and curls. Embroidery and lacquer items of this period show comparable stippled and whirling areas and it is therefore not surprising that such ‘fillers’ were used on belt hooks because belt hooks and garments are closely connected. Also depicted in the inlay is an animal head which resembles a bird with ears. The hook and the stud on the back are also inlaid. The belt hook dates from the Warring States (475 – 221BC) or Western Han period (206BC – 25AD). Length 11.5 cm.
