Belt hook inlaid with gold and silver - (4816)
[4816]

Slim bronze belt hook which has an extremely fine inlay of silver and gold. It is really mind boggling how artisans were able to make such super quality inlays more than 2000 years ago. The hook of the belt hook is still heavily corroded but under the corrosion further inlay can be seen which also applies to the knob at the back. This object dates from the Warring States period (475 – 221 BC) to the Western Han period (206BC - 25AD) and is still in excellent condition. Length 17.5 cm. Comparable slim belt hooks can be found under Quick Find 4835 and 4838
