The crossbow belonging to one of the two bronze miniature chariots found in the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, was fitted with a butt plate inlaid with silver and gold. When this butt plate was cleaned, a small part was left untouched (see photos) to show the original corrosion of this object. Length 5.9 cm. Width 3.4 cm. Height 4.6 cm.
