Parasol rib finials - (4982)

Two bronze items which were originally part of a much larger set of ten to fifteen. They topped the ends of the ribs of parasols which were commonly mounted on chariots. The silk which formed the parasol was hooked onto the thorns on the side. These two rib ends graced a parasol of a life-size chariot and date from the Han Dynasty (206BC – 221 AD). Length 10 cm.
