Square seal made of paktong. Paktong (白銅) literally means ‘White copper’ and was used to imitate sterling silver. In fact it contains about 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc and no silver at all. The seal is hollow and apparently there is a small ball inside which rattles when the seal is used. The name mentioned on the seal imprint is ‘Wang Wenhai Ying’ (汪文海印) and it dates most probably from the Republic period (1912 – 1947). Height 4.2 cm. Width and depth 1.6 cm. Weight 51 grams.
