Qilin biting its tail – (2627)

Well carved chop dating from the 18th century or earlier. It was discovered in an antiques shop in London in 1973. The carving is well done. The material is of a greyish color with black spots which is the result of having been in a fire. The inscription was ground off which was a common practice when the owner passed away. Height 5.9 cm. Width 4.4 cm. Depth 4.4 cm. Weight 262.3 grams
