What a nice object, this plaque pendant made of white jade. The finely carved decoration shows a bat (Fu = Happiness) flying over waves (Wealth) on one side, and two peaches (symbolizing Long life) on the other. The bottom of the plaque is finely carved with characters and served as a seal. The inscription means 'In moderation' and the seal was probably owned by a scholar in the 18th century. We found this little beauty in Zurich in 1975. Height 4.2 cm. Width 2.6 cm. Depth 0.63 cm. Weight 18.9 grams.
