Small shoushan stone seal topped by a monkey, one of the animals of the Chinese zodiac. It may be possible that the original owner of this seal was born in the year of the monkey. The monkey also symbolizes longevity. The seal is not inscribed which is also due to its small size but we believe that it may date from the late Qing period (1644 – 1912). The seal-print is well executed. Height 4.8 cm. Width and depth 1.7 cm. Weight 25.8 grams.
