Deep-carved counter made of very bright mother-of-pearl. One side is decorated with a two ladies doing the laundry. One hangs out a shirt to dry and the other lady is scrubbing in tub filled with water. A pine tree and houses fill the background. On the back side of this counter is a roundel with extremely fine back hatching and the ornate initials MLC. Around the roundel are depictions of houses and two dogs watching each other. The carving consists of numerous layers and dates from the Daoguang period (道光1820 – 1850). Diameter 3.8 cm. Thickness 0.24 cm.
