The deer in this charming scene is apparently so tame that a small boy can touch its antlers. There’s a village in the background. The deep-carved armorial shows a seated lion wearing a crown which is the family crest of Sir Kildare Dixon Borrowes (Baronet). The ring around the crest is decorated with houses, rocks, a bug and another unknown four-legged creature. The intricately fretted border is decorated with flowers. The counter dates from the Daoguang period (道光 1820 – 1850). Diameter 4.2 cm. Thickness 0.27 cm.
