A fierce combat is taking place between a man armed with two long knives and another man who swings two huge clubs over his head. Is the third man trying to break up the fight? Judging from his gestures this looks highly probable. The fighting takes place against a backdrop of mountains and houses. The very fine armorial shows a falcon with a flagstaff in one claw. Two doves, three roses, an anchor and a number of symbols are depicted on the shield. Underneath Is the motto ‘Patience and Perseverance’. The crest belongs to Sir John Doveton G.C.B. and dates from the Daoguang period (道光 1820 – 1850). The ring around the crest is decorated with two birds as well as rocks, trees and a house. The border is decorated with foliage. Diameter 4.2 cm. Thickness 0.26 cm.
