Bright deep-carved mother-of-pearl counter with a scene depicting a squatting fruit seller with a basket full of fruits and a lady who seems interested in buying some. The back side has a blank roundel and shows a cute animal, perhaps a lap dog, on the left and a fox on the right. The fretted border is decorated with plum flowers and bats. The counter dates from the Daoguang period (道光1820 – 1850). Length 6.9 cm. Width 2.7 cm. Thickness 0.23 cm.
