Gaming counter made of thick mother-of-pearl depicting a peasant with a hoe on his shoulder and two others. Are they poking up a fire? The squatting man is smoking a pipe and the other one seems to warm his hands. The fretted border of the front scene is decorated with finger citrons, flowers and beetles. The back side shows a family crest which has not, as yet, been identified with the motto ‘Spectemur Agendo’ which translates into ‘Let us be judged by our actions’. In the centre is a wolf’s head and the monogram IW or JW. The roundel shows extra fine back-hatching. On both sides of the crest fish are jumping out of the water. The dates from the Daoguang period (道光1820 – 1850). Length 6.9 cm. Width 2.8 cm. Thickness 0.26 cm.
