The rider of this horse is apparently in a hurry as he is waving a whip or stick in an effort to speed up the poor animal. The man with the trident looks shocked by so much noise. The usual landscape with hills, houses, trees and rocks forms the background. The deep-carved armorial shows a seated lion wearing a crown which is the family crest of Sir Kildare Dixon Borrowes (Baronet). The crest is flanked by a flying bird on the left and a cat on the right. The intricately fretted border is decorated with flowers and two butterflies, symbols of a happy marriage. The counter dates from the Daoguang period (道光 1820 – 1850). Length 6.9 cm. Height 2.7 cm. Thickness 0.26 cm.
