Children playing - (4359)
[4359]

One young boy holds a huge flower and another older boy makes a lot of noise with a rattle. A third young boy runs towards them. They seem to be enjoying themselves. The usual landscape with hills, houses, trees and rocks unfolds behind them. And again there is this unknown curious cone-shaped object in the centre. The deep-carved armorial shows a seated lion wearing a crown which is the family crest of Sir Kildare Dixon Borrowes (Baronet). The crest is flanked by a dog on the left and a bird, resembling a kiwi, on the right. The intricately fretted border is decorated with flowers and two butterflies, symbols of a happy marriage. The counter dates from the Daoguang period (道光 1820 – 1850). Length 6.9 cm. Height 2.7 cm. Thickness 0.25 cm.
