Storage jar with wooden lid – (1809)

Porcelain storage jar painted in blue and white with a decoration of unknown flowers. The rim is decorated with Ruyi symbols which are a pun ‘May you get everything you wish for’. The cover is decorated with a ‘shou’ character for ‘Longevity’. The jar dates from the early Qing period (1644 – 1912) and has a hardwood cover which may be of a later date. Height including stand and cover 27 cm. Height without stand and cover 22 cm. Diameter pot 17.5 cm. Diameter base 13.5 cm.
