Coffee-colored saucer with two fish – (3287)
[3287]

The outside rim of this small saucer is glazed in a coffee-brown color. The inside is beautifully decorated in blue and white with two carps amongst water weeds. Two fish (yu) lead to the pun ‘May you have a happy marriage, many children and lots of good luck’ (shuangyu jiqing). Fish are also a symbol of Abundance. The saucer has four characters on the bottom 若深珍藏 (ruo shen zhen cang) which is a text that was first used on porcelain of the Kangxi period (1661 – 1722) and copied in the following dynasties. It dates most probably from the end of the Republic period (1912 – 1947). It is in mint condition. Diameter 11.5 cm. Height 3.5 cm.
