Green glazed pottery model of an oven with two burners. The square hole on the flat side of the oven was used to insert wood or charcoal for heating. On the top of the oven lie a long-handled spoon as well as a ‘dragon spoon’ (see Quick Find 0351). Other ‘kitchenalia’ include a grate for steaming, a hook, platters and food items of which one is a tortoise. The oven dates from the Han period (206BC – 220AD). Length 19.3 cm. Width 18.3 cm. Height 9.8 cm. THIS ITEM WAS SOLD AT AUCTION IN 2021.
