Miniature green glazed pottery model of a water vessel. Vessels such as this were filled with water to be used when there was a fire, which happened frequently because the houses were built of wood. In reality such vessels were quite large. Some bronze ones can still be seen in the Forbidden City in Beijing. This pottery one dates from the Ming period (1368 – 1644). Diameter rim 6.2 cm. Diameter base 4.5 cm. Height 5.9 cm. THIS ITEM WAS SOLD AT AUCTION IN 2022.
