Standing pottery figure of a short person dressed in a long robe with a hood. We believe that this is a depiction of a dwarf. He is covered in 'straw-glaze', so called because of its yellowish color. A layer of water-base paint was applied over the glaze and even though most of it has gone now, the remaining traces give a good indication of how the statue must originally have looked. The dwarf dates from the Sui to Tang periods (AD 581 - 907). Height 18.7 cm. Width 6.9 cm. Depth 4.7 cm.
