Unglazed pottery pair of lying rams. The facial expression of the animals is striking. Originally they were covered in a water-base paint but most of it has gone now except for some red around the mouths. The rams date from the Sui to Tang periods (AD 581 - 907). Length 11.5 cm. Width 4.8 cm. Height 9 cm. THESE ITEMS WERE SOLD AT AUCTION IN 2024.
