Standing glazed pottery man. He is covered in 'straw-glaze', so called because of its yellowish color. The glaze has degraded over time and a layer of water-based paint which was applied over it is mostly gone. Still the remaining traces give a good indication how the statue must originally have looked. A hole in his right hand suggests that he used to hold a stick-like object of some kind, perhaps a banner. The man who is most probably a servant dates from the Sui to Tang periods (AD 591 - 907). Height 22.6 cm. Width 6.2 cm. Depth 4.7 cm.
