Toggle in the shape of a men’s shoe. It is made of boxwood and has a nice patina which confirms its age. Toggles of this type often date from the Ming period (1368 – 1644) which is probably the period during which this item was carved. But it could also date from the beginning of the Qing period (1644 – 1912). Length 5.2 cm. Width 2.0 cm. Height 2.8 cm.
