Porcelain opium serving dish - Drum - (3311)

Green glazed porcelain drum-shaped dish which was used to serve opium. The sides of the drum are pierced and show coin-shaped decorations expressing a wish for Wealth. A similar dish is depicted on page 389 of ‘The Chinese encounter with opium’ by K. Flow. It dates from the late Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912) or early Republic period (1912 – 1947). Height 3.1 cm. Width 3.2 cm.
