Small porcelain dish which was used for serving snuff tobacco. Snuff was in fact pulverized tobacco which would be sniffed up to create a tickling sensation in the nose usually followed by a sneeze. The use of snuff was especially en vogue during the 19th century. The dish is hand-painted in blue with a young blossoming tree. It came from a friend in 2013 and dates from the late Qing period (1644 - 1912). Diameter 4.8 cm. Height 1.4 cm.
