Ivory snuff dish which is plain but has a beautiful mellow patina. It was used to offer snuff tobacco to visitors. Snuff is made from pulverized tobacco leaves. It is inhaled or ‘snuffed’ through the nose. This dish dates from the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1912). Diameter 3.9 cm. Height 0.8 cm.
