Engraved paktong water pipe - (2215)

Water pipe made of paktong (white brass) finely engraved with a scene of an old man looking at a boy with a goose on his back and on the other side a boy on a buffalo. Chinese characters which are stamped on the pipe refer to the maker 'Feng Tian Cheng' and the material of which it is made 'Zhen Sai Yin' (paktong). We found this pipe in Malaysia in 1995. It dates from the end of the Qing dynasty (1644 - 1912) or early Republic (1912 - 1949). Height 27 cm. Width 7 cm.
