Three elephant heads support each salt. The salts have a thick round rim and an engraved band of floral work completely circling the bowl. The elephant heads are highly detailed with lifelike eyes, tusks, trunks with breathing holes, large floppy ears and elegant head coverings. These very rare objects (we have never seen anything like them anywhere else) were made by the Hong Kong silversmith Wang Hing in the last quarter of the 19th century.
