It comes in the shape of a lotus leaf and is marked on the bottom with the retailrt's name 'Lainchang' which according to Adrian von Ferscht, expert on Chinese Export Silver, can be transliterated as Lain Chang according to the Cantonese dialect and Lian Qiong according to the Mandarin language. This retailer was active in Hong Kong during the Republic period (1912- 1947) from about 1910 to 1940. The Chinese maker’s mark reads Long Shen (隆慎). Diameter 11.5 cm.
