The one Yuan coin depicts Dr. Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) who was the first president of the Republic of China and the first leader of the Kuomintang (Nationalist Party of China). The maker’s mark reads H.C. for Hung Chong, a silversmith who was active in Shanghai from around 1870 to 1949. Diameter 9.2 cm; Height 1 cm. Weight 65 grams.
