Brush washer made of a gnarled knot of wood which in fact is a cancerous growth. It is lacquered in red and dark brown and the lacquer is still in remarkably good order. Hollowing out such a wooden knot was quite difficult as the grain of the wood goes in every direction. This one dates from the Qing period (1644 - 1912). Length 10.6 cm. Width 6.8 cm. Height 4 cm.
